Dear Editor,
I am a television host on TTS Ch. 5 Bartica. I usually receive complaints from residents by telephone call-in. Some of them for the month of October are:
(1) stray animals are all over Bartica roadways.
Cows, horses, donkeys, disrupt traffic on a daily basis. At nights cows lie down on the roads. Motor cycles sometimes crash into them, vehicles too. The riders and pillion riders usually get hurt. The animals usually do not have owners when an accident happens.
(2) First Avenue from 3rd Street to 5th Street needs to become a one way street.
Bartica is seeing lots of vehicles. And mostly all the shopping centres and transportation happens in 1st Avenue not forgetting the roadside stalls.
(3) We also need another steamer day – Tuesdays. This vessel fills to capacity on Thursdays and Saturdays, Christmas is just around the bend.
(4) Many thanks to the government for resurfacing the Bartica Potaro Line Road to 4 Miles and I hope 4 Miles Housing Scheme gets electricity for Christmas.
(5) Poultry farmers when plucking chickens fill the guts and other waste in rice bags and dump them in the river. This floats up on beaches and resorts this also happens at the Bartica abattoir.
(6) Finally the public library needs to be moved to another location. It is under the worst conditions. Dust falls from upstairs the entrance is water-logged.
Yours faithfully,
Winston Miller
