– Kenneth De Abreu Table Tennis League
It was Day Four of the Kenneth De Abreu Table Tennis League competition and the NP Electronics duo of Michael Vieira and Andre Lopes faced Terror Squad (Samuel Fraser and Elishaba Johnson).
But, instead of being terrorized, Vieira and Lopes short-circuited the pair ending the tie 3-2 with Vieira getting past the highly touted junior national player Fraser in five gripping games.
Johnson might be the reigning 10-years-and-under champion and ranked number ¾ in the Caribbean in that category but he found the wily Lopes too experienced and bowed out making the score 0-2.
As expected Vieira and Lopes took the doubles to strengthen their chances of winning Division C, for intermediate players.
Some 12 matches were contested at the Malteenoes Sports Club as the competition moves closer to its completion. In other results, Nigel’s Supermarket (Joseph Johnson and Christopher Franklin) overpowered Bank of Guyana (Imran Khan and Quincy Jones) 3-1, to win Division `D’ for business entities, corporations and government agencies.
