The previous murder case against Andrew Gomes, 21, of Waiakabra on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway had been discharged last week at the Providence Magistrates’ Court because of the absence of the case file with the relevant statements. Gomes was once again not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge. He was remanded to prison and the case was again transferred to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for November 30.
Prosecutor Kevin London told Stabroek News that the police have established a case against the accused and the prosecution is ready and well equipped to rigorously proceed with the case. The facts of the charge are that on November 27, 2008 at Gomes’ home, he murdered his father, Stanislaus Gomes.
Reports are that on the day of the murder Gomes, who is said to be a drug addict, had asked his father for $200 to buy drugs but when he was refused he became enraged and attacked his father.
