At a press conference yesterday Cordis said that legal papers had been dispatched to the GFF along with carbon copies to Georgetown Football Association (GFA) and NAMILCO.

Cordis was stabbed while attending a match of the NAMILCO football festival which ended last evening.
He is contending that the GFF must take some responsibility for the stabbing incident which took place at the Tucville Playfield three weeks ago during a football match between Riddim Squad and Pele.

“I do not want to be affiliated with football administration in Guyana. For the effort I have made building my team to where it is now and for somebody sitting in a chair and they can take control of your life when you can be injured at their event and you cannot take recourse in this country is ridiculous,” said Cordis, who said he resigned as president of Riddim Sqaud Football Club yesterday.

Cordis, who required surgery at the Balwant Singh Hospital, said that he was disappointed that the GFF did not provide proper security.

He said the assailant was a known character where violence was concerned.
Cordis also feels that the GFF has not done enough after the incident and will therefore be pursuing the matter through the courts.

He also vented his frustration over the fact that if he brings legal action against the governing body his team will be barred from the tournament and other GFF-sanctioned tournaments.

“Personally, my life is being affected. And GFF or anybody who says that I cannot take action to get compensation for my injuries that is tantamount to disrespect.”
