Brian Hackett took an early lead on the opening day of the Digicel two-day Golf Classic at the Lusignan Golf Club yesterday.
The bank executive, playing off a handicap 24, recorded a gross 64 to end the first day on a net 64 following first day action in scorching conditions at the Lusignan Course.
Youth player Munaff Arjune playing off an eight handicap had the best gross of 75 to finish the day on a very competitive net score of 67.
Also in contention are Lakram Ramsundar (13 handicap) who posted a net 66 and Ayube Subhan and Kasim Khan also on net scores of 70.
William Walker was Nearest to the Pin.
Digicel Chief Executive Officer, Gregory Dean, sent the 52 golfers off with a remarkable tee off shot.
Several overseas players who will be competing in the championship flight at next weekend’s Guyana Open championships also used the opportunity to fine tune their game.
Another intriguing match up is anticipated today.
The players with the best overall net score over the two days will be declared the winner.
There are also prizes being awarded on both days.
