Spartans (Hewley Griffith and Joel Alleyne), Forehand Connection (Paul Meusa and Nigel Bryan) and Unstoppable (Warren Hacksaw and Dwayne Gibson) secured victories in Division “A” of the Kenneth De Abreu table tennis league competition on Saturday at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
Spartans defeated Nigel’s Supermarket (Christopher Franklin, Denzel Duff and Joseph Johnson) 3-2, in a match that went down to the wire, Forehand Connection beat Halex (Xenophen Goliath and Merton Blake) 3-0 and Unstoppable wipe the smile from Smiley Faces (Natalie Cummings and Remy Taitt) with a 3-1 win.
In DIVISION `B’ for advanced players; Halex (Goliath and Blake) beat Lil Champs (Sunil Logan, Elishaba Johnson and Kyle Edghill) 3-0; Lil Champs also went down to Bishop’s High (Denzel Duff, Jamaal Duff and Chelsea Edghill) 0-3 and Smiley Faces (Natalie Cummings and Remy Taitt) defeated Outlaws (Adielle Rosheuvel and Samuel Fraser) 3-0.
Bubblegum Warriors (Brandon Baldie, Anthony Niles and Denzil Hopkinson) withdrew from the competition and the matches they played were forfeited.
The unbeaten Unstoppable team with five wins and Snipers who have four wins and one loss are set to play each other this week-end.
Smiley Faces have completed their quota of matches ending with a 5-win, one defeat aggregate.
In DIVISION `C’ for intermediate players, NP Electronics (Michael Vieira and Andre Lopes) whitewashed Dragon Warriors ( Kyle Edghill and Alistair Parks) 3-0; Terror Squad (Elishaba Johnson and Samuel Fraser) beat Bank of Guyana (Imran Khan and Quincy Jones) 3-0.
Bank of Guyana also went down to Dragon Warriors 1-3.
The unbeaten Gaza and NP Electrtronics teams with identical records (4 wins 0 defeat) square off in the final this week-end.
In Division `E’ for semi intermediate players, Dominators (Chelsea Edghill and Priscilla Greaves) defeated Top Spin (Zane Rogers and Killon Tracey) 3-1.
Top Spin came back to beat Turbo TT (Sachin Panday and Brandon Gomes) 3-2.
The tournament continues on Saturday at the same venue from 4pm.
