Missing soldier found dead

–foul play suspected The search for a missing soldier ended yesterday when his decomposing remains were found in the Cuyuni River, about 11 miles from the army’s Eteringbang border location were he was based.

Robbery accused granted $70,000 bail

A 22-year-old man, who along with two women allegedly robbed another man of a quantity of cash and a cell phone, was granted bail yesterday in the sum of $70,000 when he appeared before Magistrate Priya Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Man and teen on break and enter charge

A 16-year-old boy was granted bail in the sum of $100,000, while a man was remanded to prison when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court charged with breaking and entering another man’s home and stealing a digital camera and a portable DVD player.

US Embassy in education outreach

In observance of International Education Week (IEW) earlier this month the US Embassy held several outreach sessions at Georgetown and Berbice secondary schools which aimed at sharing information about studying in the US with over 100 students.

Man swindled trio with job promises

A man, who admitted to obtaining a quantity of money from three persons under the pretext that he would give them supervisory and cashier positions at a business he was purportedly opening, was ordered to pay a fine of $25,000 or spend three months in prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
