In observance of International Education Week (IEW) earlier this month the US Embassy held several outreach sessions at Georgetown and Berbice secondary schools which aimed at sharing information about studying in the US with over 100 students.
IEW, observed from November 16-20, celebrates international educational exchange and its positive impact on the United States and the world, the embassy said in a press release yesterday.
“The initiative,” the release said, “highlights the benefits of studying abroad for Americans and seeks to attract international students” to the US as well as help them gain a better understanding of its society and values.
St Stanislaus College, St Rose’s High, St Joseph’s High, the Bishops’ High, the New Guyana School, Queen’s College, School of the Nations, Berbice High and New Amsterdam Multilateral School were some of the school visited by US Embassy personnel last week.
Members of the team fielded questions and presented materials to the schools at the end of each session.
The release also advised that parents and students who have questions about studying in the US could visit the embassy’s website at http://georgetown,usembassy.gov/ or http:// connect.state.gov which is the official IEW website specifically designed for people interested in international exchanges.
