In a press release the party said it is pleased that earlier critics of the LCDS can now appreciate and support it as it will be of national and international benefit. The PPP said it had for years been trying to sensitize the nation on this issue, recalling that it contested the 1992 General Elections with a pledge to work towards achieving social, economic, political and ecological justice.
The PPP lauds President Bharrat Jagdeo’s leadership on this issue and posited that due to his advocacy Guyana’s position is becoming more acceptable and is winning greater support from the international community.
