Police said the stolen jewellery was found on one of men held in a car at the roadblock, which was set up after Angela Austin reported the robbery.
In a statement issued yesterday, police said Austin, of Fellowship, WCD, was walking along the public road at around 20:00 hours when two men disembarked a motor vehicle that had stopped and snatched the gold chain she was wearing. The men then escaped in the vehicle.
Police ranks responded promptly to the report and established roadblocks at strategic points. Motor car PLL 8431, with three men inside, was subsequently stopped at a roadblock at Vreed-en-Hoop, WCD, and searched. A gold chain, which appeared to be the one stolen from Austin, was found in the possession of one of the men, the statement said.
The trio was arrested.
