The Guyana Police Force yesterday announced the posting of several senior officers to various command positions in Divisions countrywide.
In a press release, the police said that Assistant Commissioner Gavin Primo has been posted as Special Patrols Officer in charge of the policing patrol arrangements for the Christmas period.
Senior Superintendent David Ramnarine has been posted to “E & F” Division (interior locations) as the second-in-command. He was formerly the second-in-command of “A” Division.
The release added that Superintendent Deryck Josiah has now been posted to “A” Division as the second-in-command having previously been in charge of the Lethem Sub-Division and has been replaced there by Deputy Superintendent Trevor Sampson.
Senior Superintendent Eric Bassant will now be posted to “D” Division as the second-in-command. He was formerly in charge of the Force’s Quartermaster Stores and has been replaced at the Stores by Superintendent Lawrence Kissoon.
Further the release stated that Senior Superintendent Roland Alleyne has resumed duties from Annualised Vacation Leave as the second-in-command of “C” Division. At one time Alleyne was the traffic chief.
Superintendent John Sauers has been posted to “C” Division as the third-in-command of the Division. Earlier in the year Sauers was carrying out the duties of police public relations officer.
Meanwhile Assistant Superintendent Edmond Cooper has been posted to “E & F” Division as the second-in-charge of the Linden Sub-Division. He was previously attached to `C’ Division and was posted to `A’ Division earlier this year.
These changes come weeks after the police announced a shake-up in its command, which saw the removal of Commander Paulette Morrison, in whose Division a 15-year-old boy was tortured during a murder investigation.
