The doctor has told the parents and relatives of eight-year- old Jasmine Harding that there is no hope, but her family is holding on to every hope that the child will recover.
Harding was struck down by a speeding car on Monday last and is a patient of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
According to one of her relatives, they were told by the doctor that the injuries Harding sustained have left her with brain damage. She is currently attached to a life-support machine.
Harding was hit by the speeding car as she was waiting to cross the road after being dropped off by the school bus near her 69 Bagotville, West Bank Demerara home.
This paper was told that Harding had just exited the school bus and was waiting to cross the road when she was hit.
The driver of the car was held and later placed on bail after his 72 hours in custody expired. He is yet to be charged as the matter is still under investigation.
