In what is a repeat of their Guyana Football Federation’s Super League final, Alpha United will meet with the Guyana Defence Force in a quarter final match of the annual Mayor’s Cup seven-a-side football tournament.
The match takes place tomorrow at the Tucville Playfield from 7pm along with three other quarter-final encounters and two exhibition games.
The other quarter-final encounters will see Pele coming up against Uprising, Western Tigers opposing Crane and Conquerors taking on Riddim Squad.
The two friendly encounters will pit Agricola against Flamingo and Houston All Stars versus Black Pearl in matches of 40 minutes duration.
The semi-finals, final and third place play-off will take place on Friday at the same venue and will be followed by the presentation of prizes.
The winning team is set to receive $300,000 and the Macorp trophy while the losing finalist will receive $100,000 with $60,000 and $40,000 going to the third and fourth placed teams respectively.
Meanwhile in matches on Friday night Crane defeated Uitvlugt 1-0 while Alpha, defeated Rich Boys 2-0 through goals from Shawn Bishop and Ronson Williams.
In other results Conquerors edged YMCA 1-0; Western Tigers defeated Kitty Rangers 2-0; Uprising pipped Black Pearl 1-0; GDF defeated Seawall 2-1, Riddim Squad beat Victoria Kings 2-1 and Pele whipped Flamingo 2-0.
