Dr Tarron Khemraj, former Bank of Guyana Economist and University of Guyana Lecturer, is the newest member of the Alliance For Change (AFC) and will serve as adviser on its Economic Council.
In a press statement yesterday the AFC announced Khemraj’s entry to the party and welcomed him to the team as it continues to develop the AFC Blueprint for Progress in Guyana. Khemraj, AFC said, will function as adviser on global, Caribbean and domestic economic and policy issues.
Khemraj has over 13 years experience as an academic and policy economist; he is currently assistant Professor of Economics (tenure-track) at the New College of Florida and writes a fortnightly column, ‘Development Watch’, for the Stabroek News. He is also Research Associate at the Caribbean Centre for Money and Finance, University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. In addition to this, Khemraj also served as external examiner for the Master’s thesis from UWI, Cave Hill, Barbados.
“Satisfying the international benchmark for an economist,” the AFC release said, “Dr Khemraj has published in peer-reviewed journals such as Applied Economics, Oxford Economic Papers, ICFAI Journal of Financial Economics, Social and Economic Studies, Savings and Development and Transition.”
