Reprimand for Bollinger’s dissent

ADELAIDE, Australia, CMC – Australian pacer Doug Bollinger has received an official reprimand for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the fourth day’s play in the second cricket Test against the West Indies at the Adelaide Oval.

Bollinger was charged with a Level 1 offence, which relates to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision”.

Sanctions included in Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct can range from an official reprimand up to 50 per cent of the player’s match fee.

Visibly angry and defiant, Bollinger kicked the pitch following the denial of an lbw appeal against Brendan Nash in the 52nd over of the West Indies second innings.

On a frustrating day for the Australian bowlers, West Indies reached 284 for eight in their second innings – an overall lead of 296 – with Chris Gayle playing a captain’s knock of 155 not out for the Caribbean side.
The charge against Bollinger was laid by on-field umpires Asad Rauf and Ian Gould as well as third umpire Bruce Oxenford.

“The player pleaded guilty at an early stage and, under the provisions of the new code, the matter was determined by Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees without a full hearing,” the ICC said in a statement.
