The Guyana Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) Banks 2009 Masters Invitational tournament was officially launched yesterday at the Pegasus Hotel and serves off Friday at 6pm at the Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel Tennis Courts.
Making brief comments at the simple ceremony yesterday was the Banks DIH’s Tropical Mist Brand Manager, Errol Nelson, and tournament coordinator, Rawle Sue Ho.
The six-day tournament will be played under the International Tennis Federation (ITF) rules, and congregates the best tennis players throughout Guyana who have excelled in tournaments and other competitive events during the last two years.
This tournament includes the top four seeded players from boys and girls’ 14 and under, boys and girls’ 18 and under and the ladies and men’s Open singles.
Added to that, this tournament will be used as a benchmark for the association to launch its new training programmes to achieve its strategic objectives towards developing the sport of tennis to new heights.
Competition dates are as follow:
Friday 11 – 6pm – 10pm
Saturday 12 – 9am-11am and 6pm-10pm
Sunday 13 – 9am-10pm
Friday 18 – 6pm – 10pm
Saturday 19 – 9am-10pm
Sunday 20 – 9am-10pm
