Dear Editor,
I am totally confused; I saw an advertisement on November 22, 2009 in the Kaieteur News informing the public that, among other things, the old age pension book distribution will continue until December 18, 2009. But, in Tuesday’s edition (December 8) of the Guyana Chronicle the Chief Probation Officer, Mrs P Gray, was reported as saying that the distribution exercise will cease this weekend. Which is correct? I would be glad if someone can take some time and clear the confusion and advise me if I can wait or join the crowd at the Joshua House where everything seems more confusing and moving like a snail.
Yours faithfully,
M Reuben
Editor’s note
We have been advised by the Ministry of Human Services that distribution will officially cease on December 18, although pensioners can still collect their pension books after that date. What Mrs Patricia Gray was reported in the Chronicle as saying was not that distribution would cease this weekend but that “all areas yet to be served will be in receipt by this weekend.”
