A food and beverages vendor pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession of spirits when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on Thursday at the Georgetown court.
George Troy, 33, called `Bush’, of 102 Da Silva Street, Newtown, Kitty is alleged to have had a quantity of spirits on December 10. Troy allegedly had in his possession 79 bottles of El Dorado rum, 49 bottles of High Wine, 63 bottles of Ivanoff vodka, 137 bottles of Guinness Stout, 96 bottles of Banks beer, 12 bottles of Extra Mature rum, 34 bottles Banko, 70 bottles Premium beer, 10 bottles of Creme Liqueur, 86 bottles Carib beer and 48 bottles of Mackeson in his possession.
In his bid for bail for his client, attorney-at-law Lawrence Harris submitted that Troy was married with one child and he was only storing the spirits for distribution among his family for the Christmas season, pointing out that nothing was displayed for sale.
The prosecution did not object to bail and Troy was placed on $25,000 bail. He is to return to Court Two on January 13.
