Trevor Simon, the watchman found dead at the Diamond, East Bank Demerara house he was guarding, died of asphyxiation, compounded by blunt trauma to the head.
Dr. Nehaul Singh made the findings after performing a post-mortem examination on the body of Simon, 40, called `Neighbour Joe,’ at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation mortuary. No one has been held for the man’s death.
Simon was found on Wednesday at the Sixth Street, Diamond, East Bank Demerara property, following an apparent robbery. His body was discovered at around 4 pm yesterday by the owner of the home, who was making his regular checks at the building, which is still under construction.
Simon’s hands and feet were tied as well as his mouth which was bound with a piece of cloth and abrasions were seen on his head, the police said.
His attackers apparently smashed his head repeatedly against the wall or floor. “He had a big bump on his head and his face mash up,” one resident said. Simon’s bicycle, which he only purchased last week, was missing.
