It was for charity and the patrons showed up and gave willingly. Sonia Noel’s Style Mission, which came off on December 10 at the Pegasus Hotel, managed to raise $250,000 for Archer’s Home to aid in the upkeep of senior citizens.
Sonia told The Scene that that show came off as planned, noting that the proceedings flowed from “beginning to end”. She said there were no hitches, adding the reviews were all positive. According to her, the ambience of the evening was set from the moment people walked into the entrance corridor at the Pegasus.
Further, she disclosed that many prominent persons offered to walk the runaway including Agriculture Minister Robert Persaud. Sonia added that she was overwhelmed by the response and the tremendous outpouring of support from the persons who where there. “I am so grateful for the opportunity to give back, but am really touched by how people turned out to support the cause.”
Previously, Sonia had lamented that senior citizens are not treated with the respect they deserve and she mentioned her own grandmother during an interview with The Scene saying that senior citizens have done “their part” but are greatly overlooked. The show was by invitation only, and in addition to her collection Style Mission also featured designs from the Climax label, Shawn and Shurland James, Marcia DeSantos, Loriann Jacobs, Shedell Burchsmith and Carol Martindale.
