Several injured in mishap at ECD police headquarters

An accident at the Cove and John, East Coast Demerara (ECD) Police Divisional Headquarters on Thursday saw several persons being treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital. Injured in the accident were: Tisheree Woolford, 25, of Golden Grove, ECD who sustained a right ankle injury; Joe Jack, 14, of 62 Victoria Village, ECD who suffered a right shoulder injury; Carlin Benn, 12, also of Victoria sustained injures to the head and her right leg.

Nikita Younge, 11, of 233 ‘E’ Field Sophia suffered injury to her right foot, while 10-year-old Ayana Austin of 2 South Haslington, ECD suffered injury to her right thigh. And seven-year –old Mark Nedd of Sophia sustained back and head injuries.

Meanwhile,   Meileeh Giles, 35 of 72 South Haslington, ECD sustained injury to her wrist; 12-year-old Tinesha Semple of Cove and John, ECD suffered injury to her back and 17-year-old Felicity Moore, of 148 Belfield Housing Scheme suffered injuries to her left foot and shoulder. Shemar Holder, 12 of 413 Victoria Village, ECD suffered injury to his right foot.

According to a hospital release Austin was admitted to the Paediatric Ward but was self discharged by relatives and everyone else was treated and sent home. Austin was admitted to the St Joseph Mercy Hospital with a fractured left thigh, according to a Police release.

Meanwhile, a police press release said the accident occurred after the landing of the building that was being used to host a Christmas party collapsed. The release stated that the accident happened at the Cove and John Divisional Headquarters during the distribution of gifts and toys.
