Playing in front of a friendly crowd at the MSC Ground, the local ladies came from behind after Jennifer Buyne gave the Surinamese the go ahead goal in the 10th minute.

However, the locals got the equaliser at the end of the first half through Alicia Williams (45th minute) who went one-on-one with the Surinamese `keeper.

The second half saw nothing but aggression from the local ladies as coach Wayne ‘Wiggy’ Dover made several changes.

As the game progressed, Rupununi striker Lorian Toney who was a “terror” upfront when she came on in the second half gave the Guyanese the winner in the 90th minute.

The lanky striker sweetly placed the ball over the Surinamese goalkeeper’s head to ensure her team did not end the tournament on a losing note.

The Most Goal Scorer Golden Boot Award went to Ashley Rodrigues of the overseas based team who scored three goals in the tournament, while the Most Valuable player (MVP) award went to Nikkita Persaud.

Ronetta Alberts of Linden walked away with the Best Goal Keeper of tournament award.

As a consolation to the coaches, the locals and overseas ladies will play a match today at the Blairmont Community Center ground from 16:00 hours.
