PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – West Indies all-rounder Shanel Daley turned in a moderate performance for St. George-Sutherland as they beat Northern Districts by 115 runs in the latest round of matches in the Sydney Grade One league in Australia on Sunday.
Batting first at Walsend Oval, St. George-Sutherland made 203 for nine off their 50 overs with Daly stroking a 20-ball 13 batting at number six.
The Jamaican, who turns 21 on Christmas Day, then returned with the ball to take two wickets as Northern Districts were bowled out for just 88 runs, to lose the game by a massive margin.
The only other West Indies player in action on the weekend was Trinidad & Tobago’s Stacy-Ann King but she failed to impress, taking one for 30 from 10 overs as Universities made 215 for nine off 50 overs batting first.
King then made just six runs in Eastern Suburbs innings of 167 as they went under by 48 runs.
The players will now take a break for the Christmas period before the competition resumes in the New Year.
Teenage batsman Deandra Dottin and West Indies vice-captain Kirbyina Alexander are the other Caribbean players plying their trade Down Under.
