Teenage female golfer Joaan Deo capped a remarkable season with an another impressive victory in the Grand Coastal Inn end of year Stableford Golf tournament last Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Course.
Deo recorded 37 points playing off a 21 handicap to win Saturday’s tournament which brought an end to the 2009 golf season.
It was another major win for the young medical student who had earlier carted off wins in the Courts Guyana Inc. and Macorp competitions during this season as she once again defied a formidable line up of 28 of the nation’s leading golfers.
Ian Gouveia also ended the season on a high note in securing the second position with 35 points while seasoned campaigner Alfred Mentore finished third with 34 points.
Kassim Khan received a prize for the longest putt while Maurice Solomon was Nearest to the Pin.
Grand Coastal Inn Finance Controller Sarwan Luknauth who made brief remarks at the presentation ceremony congratulated the winners and pledged his company’s continued support to the Lusignan Golf Club.
Luknauth said that his company has plans to make the tournament one of the premier events on the golf calendar in the near future.
He also took the opportunity to wish the players a joyous Christmas season.
Officials of the LGC thanked Grand Coastal Inn whose Chief Executive Officer Mukesh Daby was in attendance for its continued support and expressed their desire to working closely with Daby and team in the future.
