The best gifts at Christmas are happy families, peace, love and joy in the nation, the Alliance For Change (AFC) said in its Christmas message.

In a press release the party said Christmas remains a time and season when citizens cherish peace and extend goodwill to all; a time when they demonstrate charity and hospitality in their actions. “From home to home and from heart to heart the warmth and joy of Christmas brings us closer together as families and also as a nation,” it added.

The gift of the Saviour is God’s expression of love and goodwill to all men and from His great example the nation has learnt to banish envy, malice, pride, lust, passion and covetousness. The AFC said Guyanese must lay aside differences, love each other and seek after each other’s welfare. “We know that the joy we share with others at this time is the joy that will come back to us,” it said, adding that it is its prayer that “all lives will overflow with blessings rich and eternal and that every path you trod will lead to peace and happiness.”
