The PPP says as a free nation, Guyana has much to celebrate this Christmas and as such it urges citizens to “spare a thought” for less fortunate persons both at home and abroad.
In a press release the party said Christmas is associated with hope and rejoicing that a better day is possible.
It said too, despite the difficulties associated with the economic crisis that has gripped the world Guyana has much to celebrate. “We are proud that our nation is free. We have been enjoying freedoms that are associated with democratic societies. We are also working hard to expand them and entrench our human rights so that they become irreversible,” the release said.
In the light of this, the party urges the nation to remember needy persons as well as those living in oppression in countries such as Palestine and Myanmar. It said it is hopeful that those countries torn by conflict would enjoy peace and plenty this holiday.
