– Alpha United and Conquerors to clash at GFC ground Boxing Day
The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) yesterday ruled in favour of the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation over the Alpha United Football Club as it relates to their game on Boxing Day (December 26) at the Georgetown Football Club.
Alpha United president Odinga Lumumba had threatened to withdraw his team from the tournament because the organisers had made changes to the fixtures.
Originally Alpha United and Fruta Conquerors were booked to clash tonight at the National Stadium before the organizers moved the game to Linden tomorrow night.
Following a protest from Lumumba, the game was rescheduled for the Georgetown Football Club ground tomorrow night.
But Lumumba was adamant that his club would be playing at the National Stadium tonight and had given the organisers up to sometime today to give him a valid reason for their decision to change the fixture.
At yesterday’s meeting held at the GFF’s head office in Campbellville, the GFF, the governing body for football locally ruled against Alpha United.
Contacted yesterday Kashif Muhammad of the Kashif and Shanghai organization said that Alpha United had agreed that they would respect the outcome of yesterday’s meeting and, as such, Alpha United will clash with Fruta Conquerors at the GFC ground tomorrow.
In Linden, Bakewell Topp XX will go neck-to-neck with BK International Western Tigers while the opening game will see two female teams doing battle.
