Lorenzo Sims, a father of two of Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, was not required to enter a plea to an indictable robbery-under-arms charge.
It is alleged that on December 23, at La Penitence, he used a knife to rob Judy Bhagwandeen of a hand bag, a cell phone and a quantity of cash, totalling over $49,500.
Sims’ lawyer Sasha Roberts had applied for bail for him on the grounds that he posed no risk of flight and that he had no reason to commit the alleged offence.
However, Prosecutor Joel Ricknauth had requested that Sims be remanded to prison and that the matter be transferred to the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court.
Sims is scheduled to make another court appearance at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court on January 12 next year.
