The Region Three Regional Administration Office feted more than 40 patients at the West Demerara Regional Hospital with gifts for the New Year.

In a press release, Information Officer Jaidev Dudhnath said he along with Chairman Julius Faerber, Regional Health Officer Dr Millicent Benjamin and Hospital Administrator Bhomattee Surujdin distributed the gifts.

Faerber also made a monetary donation to three women who gave birth during the last minutes of 2009. The release said Joy Glasgow of Bushy Park, East Bank Essequibo and Rajni Goolcharran of Papie Street, New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, WCD also gave birth to baby girls just before midnight on Thursday. Additionally, Sabina Totaram of Sea View, Anna Catherina gave birth to a baby girl on the stroke of midnight.
