The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) says as it reflects on its achievements in 2009 it looks forward to continuing serving citizens.
In a New Year’s message the ERC suggested that in order to build a country free from fear and discrimination more youth needed to become involved in peace clubs which promote harmony.
It also called on religious leaders to show greater respect for each other’s faith and exercise greater levels of tolerance when dealing with “sensitive issues.”
The ERC also said citizens must participate in meaningful community development and to take deliberate actions to promote community security in the interest of nationalism.
The group also acknowledged the support and confidence citizens have expressed in it, adding that it looks forward to working with stakeholders in 2010.
