Storm rushed to Barbados
The son of Vincentian Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves has been rushed to Barbados for medical attention after being badly hurt in a traffic accident on Wednesday.
College student Storm Gonsalves sustained serious injuries when he was hit by a passenger van while riding his motorbike about a mile from the capital Kingstown, in an area known as Sion Hill.
Prime Minister Gonsalves left the state on Wednesday night to accompany his son to Barbados.
Dr Gonsalves has since said that the young man is doing as well as can be expected.
Storm had earlier been hospitalised at St Vincent’s Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
Expelled Muslim cleric making his way home
Jamaican authorities say a radical Muslim cleric expelled from Kenya is unlikely to face extra scrutiny when he arrives on the island.
Foreign Affairs Minister Kenneth Baugh says Jamaican-born Sheikh Abdullah al-Faisal has not committed any crimes in his native country, and is free to come to the island.
Kenyan authorities confirmed yesterday that they had deported al-Faisal to Gambia, via Nigeria.
The immigration minister in Nairobi said Gambian authorities had agreed to help al-Faisal find his way home.
The radical Muslim cleric had been stuck in Kenya after Britain, South Africa and Tanzania refused to let him transit through their countries.
He was deported to Jamaica in May 2007 after serving time in a British jail for urging the killing of several religious groups.
