Local golfers will have an early start to the 2010 season with the first tournament set to take place today at the Lusignan Golf Club, East Coast Demerara.
Dask Enterprise of Carmichael Street, Cum-mingsburg, will sponsor the season’s opener which starts at 12:30 hours.
Tournament Coordinator Dr. Ram Singh, disclosed that the tournament will be played under the Medal Play format and there will be a shot gun start.
According to Dr. Ram Singh most of the country’s leading players are expected to take part in what could be considered another hectic year for the local players.
Jerome Khan, Managing Director of Dask Enterprise and captain of the Lusignan Golf Club is expected to be among the starters.
Also expected to compete are the consistent teenager Joaan Deo who won several tournaments last season, Guyana Open champion Avinash Persaud, Ian Gouveia, Patrick Prashad, Maurice Solomon, Munaff Arjune, Kassim Khan, Alfred Mentore, Lester Alvis, Mike Guyadin, William Walker, Christine Sukhram, Brian Hackett, Ronald Bulkan, Gavin Todd, Clifford Reis, Mark Lashley, Mike Mangal, Imran Khan, Boloram Deo, Carlos Adams, Chatterpaul Deo, Esau Shamshudin, Mel Sankies, Roy Cummings, Ayube Subhan and Francois Montour.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers as well as Nearest to the Pin, longest drive and best gross.
