The court heard that Odel Burnette, 24, of Lichfield, West Coast Berbice had carnal knowledge of the girl on December 19, 2009. He also allegedly committed the offence again on December 29 along with Gergwayne Juke, 24, Edward Sears, 19, and Gangeld Hudson, 20.
The men were initially refused bail when they made their first appearance at court on Thursday. They were then granted their pre-trial freedom when the case was called again on Friday following a successful application by attorney-at-law, Joel Persid Edmond.
The magistrate also ordered the men to lodge their travel documents at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s court and appear there on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They are scheduled to return to court on January 18.
