The Mahaicony man who created an uproar at a meeting with President Bharrat Jagdeo at Mortice on Sunday, appeared at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of disorderly behaviour and was fined $20,000.

Jairam Mohabir was fined when he appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the East Coast Demerara court.
Stabroek News learnt that Mohabir was read a charge of disorderly behaviour and was also given the alternative of six months in jail.
Mohabir allegedly issued a threat to anyone who interfered with his land. This was at the conclusion of a meeting the President held with farmers at the Mortice Primary School, Mahaicony.
