Brian Benn, 42, of 40 D’urban Street, Lodge was fined $10,000 or four months imprisonment by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson for behaving disorderly in a public place.
Benn on January 13 behaved disorderly at James Street, Albouystown. He pleaded guilty but offered an explanation telling the magistrate that he was in his vehicle parked in front of a friend when the police rapped on his door and “say come out the f-ing car.” Benn told the magistrate that it was an exchange of words between him and the officer, “They cuss me, I cuss them.”
Meanwhile Prosecutor, Inspector Stephen Telford told the court that police had approached Benn after observing the heavy tint on the window of his vehicle. He said Benn abused the officer and that led to him being arrested and charged.
