He was not required to enter pleas to the indictable charges of robbery- under-arms and discharging a loaded firearm with intent to cause bodily harm to a man but he pleaded not guilty to the summary charges of possession of ammunition and a firearm without being the owner of a firearm licence.
It is alleged that on September 14 last year, at Puruni River, Bartica he discharged a loaded firearm at Tyrell Gordon with intent to maim, disable, disfigure or cause him grievous bodily harm.
It is also alleged that on the same day and the same place, being armed with a .32 revolver, he robbed Gordon of fifteen pennyweights of raw gold valued $120,000.
Little denied that on January 12 at Puruni River, Bartica, he had two live .32 rounds, a .32 spent shell and a .32 Taurus revolver without being the owner of a firearm licence.
His lawyer Peter Hugh had applied for bail for him on the grounds that neither the gun nor the ammunition was found in his client’s possession.
He stated that on the day of his client’s arrest he was standing at a corner with several other persons when the police came up and told them that they found the gun on the road some distance away from where they were standing.
He noted that it was strange that only his client was arrested.
However, Prosecutor Shellon Daniels objected to the bail application on the grounds that the charges are only bailable if a special circumstance was attached but noted that the defence presented none to the court.
The prosecutor stated that on the day in question a mobile police patrol was proceeding along a road in the Puruni area when it noticed Little also proceeding in front of them on a motorcycle.
She noted that Little was stopped and a routine search was conducted on his person at which time the police discovered the gun in his pants crotch.
The magistrate then ordered that the case be transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for January 27.
