Rose Hall Town (RHT) Bakewell will play the winner of the second semifinal between Rose Hall Canje and Albion in the final at the same venue on January 24.
A well played half century from Shawn Perreira helped RHT up to a sturdy 261 – 6 in 60 overs, then a terrific bowling performance of 6 – 35 from female West Indies player Shemaine Campbell restricted the opposition to 158.
RHT won the toss and elected to bat first despite the heavy moisture on the pitch due to early morning rain.
They were immediately in trouble when 13-year old opener Nicholas Cameron was caught at first slip off pacer Jason Robertson for one in the second over with the score on eight. The next batsman in, Surendra Kissoonlall, did not last long as he was dismissed with the total on 18.
Skipper Dominic Rickey and the inform Perreira started the recovery with a tremendous third wicket partnership worth 102 before Rickey was caught behind off the highly impressive leg spinner K. Jawahir for a well played 45 which included three boundaries.
Perreira was then joined at the wicket by the big hitting Keon Sinclair and they added 80 for the fourth wicket before Perreira was caught on the mid wicket boundary for a classy 75. Sinclair carried on taking the attack to the D’Edward bowling with vice captain Loyden Lewis (15) and Lionel Lewis (11) as RHT reached their total of 261.
Sinclair remained unbeaten on 65 while West Indies female player Shemaine Campbell was not out on ten.
In reply, D’Edward crumbled to 158 in 51 overs despite a brilliant 61 by promising all-rounder D. Lalsa and scores of 26 and 25 by Marvin De Putron and K Jawahir respectively.
Campbell continued her outstanding performances in Berbice male cricket by grabbing six wickets in her 15 overs while off spinner Lewis bagged 3- 47 in dominating of D’Edward.
