The unidentified body of a man of mixed race was discovered lying face down in a yard at Golden Grove, West Coast Berbice around 1:30 am yesterday.

The man, clad only in a pair of light blue jeans, was not wearing any footwear. It also appeared that blood was oozing from his mouth.

At dawn yesterday a large crowd gathered at the scene as many persons tried to see if they could identify the man. Some also expressed the view that he was “not from this area.”

Lokindrianath Sukra, 57, in whose yard the body was found said a relative got up around 1:30 and “put on the lights and when he look out and he saw the man in the yard.” He said the relative “woke me up and when I checked I saw that the man was not breathing.”

He immediately contacted the police who arrived and conducted investigations. Sukra who was still baffled as to why the man entered his yard said his gate was not padlocked.

This newspaper was there when undertakers from Anthony’s Funeral Home arrived and removed the body.
