Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday remanded a man for allegedly being found with a quantity of cannabis in his possession.
Richard Dey, 30, pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
He denied that on January 20 at Transport Wharf, First Avenue, Bartica, he had 975 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Prosecutor Joel Ricknauth objected to Dey’s bail application when he suggested it and asked that the matter be transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court. The magistrate subsequently granted the prosecutor his request by transferring the matter to the Bartica Magistrates’ Court for January 27.
