Magistrate Ann McLennan fined two brothers a total of $190,000 for four traffic offences when they on Tuesday appeared in the Christianburg Magistrates’ Court.
Traffic police stopped Seon Antigua, 23, and his older brother Whiddon Antigua, 33, of 21 Half Mile, Wismar, Linden on Burnham Drive, Wismar, where it was discovered that four traffic offences were being committed.
Seon Antigua was charged with driving motor lorry GJJ 8740 while not being the holder of a lorry licence. He was also charged with breach of insurance. He pleaded guilty to both offences and was fined $40,000 and $50,000, respectively or the alternative of six weeks imprisonment for each offence.
Meanwhile, the older brother was charged with allowing Seon Antigua to drive the motor lorry, cognisant of the fact that he was not lawfully licensed to do so. He was also charged with not having third party risk insurance enforced. Antigua pleaded guilty to the charges and was fined $50,000 on each count or the alternative of six weeks imprisonment.
