Man shot resisting armed robbers

Isaac King, 38, of Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge sustained gunshot wounds to his right hand and left side chest and was in the operating theatre up to late last evening.

The man’s wife Christine told Stabroek News that King left to visit a friend in Cul-de-Sac Street after noon and some time later the friend informed her that he had been shot.

Because of his condition, the woman said, she was unable to get much out of King but he managed to tell her “dem man stick he up” and took away a gold chain and a gold ring he was wearing at the time. She said her husband told her he attempted to fight off the attacker but was shot in the process.

The woman said the circumstances of the shooting appear suspicious to her.

At Cul-de-Sac Street, a resident recalled seeing King running into a nearby yard and shortly after, he was seen walking out of the said yard in the company of an occupant.

Shortly after that the resident related that a dark coloured wagon came up and there was one gunshot. Despite being wounded King managed to run through a nearby alleyway.

The car then sped away from the area.

Police investigations are continuing.
