Three men, one of whom reportedly had a toy gun, robbed a woman in the city yesterday but they were later nabbed by police with the stolen items.
It was around midday when the trio confronted Anita Mayers at Lance Gibbs Street, Queenstown and held her at gunpoint. Mayers, who was waiting on transportation, was forced to give up her cellular phone valued $18,000 and her handbag.
Police said the men fled on foot and based on a quick response ranks were able to apprehend them at North Road. One of the men was in possession of a toy handgun while the stolen handbag and cellular phone were recovered.
According to the police, the woman positively identified the man. The police are investigating and charges are expected to be laid shortly.
