A post-mortem examination is expected to be performed today on the woman who was found dead in the house around 10 am by her husband Budh Narayan Bhoge called “Minko.”
Relatives are still baffled as to what may have caused Nalini’s demise and said she was a “peaceful person.” They told this newspaper yesterday that it seemed as though the attacker “had eyes on she a long time ago.”
They were referring to a robbery that occurred at her home about three weeks ago and felt that the killing had some connection to that.
The relatives said that the woman and her family had gone to a fair in the area and returned home to find the place ransacked.
They also discovered that $700,000 as well as a pouch with her husband’s “bank card and security card” was missing.
According to the relatives, the family did not report the robbery to the police because they said they “would work and make back the money.”
The grieving relatives lamented that the attacker should have considered the woman’s three daughters – Bharti, 12, Khishana, 10 and eight-year-old Praveena – “and don’t kill she; they coulda even break she hand and foot…”
Bhoge’s sister, Betty Chinsukh who flew into the country from New York after hearing about her sister-in-law’s death described her as a very pleasant person. “You could tell her anything and all she would do is smile. She and my brother had a close relationship.”
She said that last August, Bhoge and the children who are all American citizens along with Nalini spent six weeks at her house in New York. He lived in America for 27 years and returned to Guyana 15 years ago and got married to Nalini.
Chinsukh who said she is the only sister among seven brothers, with Bhoge being the last, never expected the shocking news. She said she was out and when she returned her grandchildren put her to sit and told her that “someone came into the house and killed uncle Minko’s wife.”
The gruesome discovery of Nalini’s badly battered body was found lying in a pool of blood with several chops and stab wounds on her neck and upper back.
Police sources told this newspaper yesterday that they were “still looking at some leads…”
