Courts Guyana Inc. pumped a total of $400,000 into the Holland’s Entertainment Promotions ‘Season’s Beatings’ card which gets underway tomorrow night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).
President of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control, Peter Abdool, was present at the simple handing over ceremony to receive the cheque which was presented by Courts Guyana Manager, Lester Alvis.
The Courts manager, in brief remarks, said: “Courts Guyana Inc. has been quite active in professional boxing for some time and we are always keen on developing sports and helping youths on the way forward.”
He also underlined the company’s pride in being associated with the sport and pointed out that the event was not only about the boxers but also for Haiti.
All proceeds from the fight will go to the Haiti Relief Fund.
Abdool, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to the sponsors on behalf of the board for their continued support over the past three years.
“I cannot stop thanking Courts for their support. I cannot recall a time since they have come onboard they have not been involved in promoting boxing in Guyana,” Abdool declared. “The sport has come a long way and I think we have reached a stage where there is going to be a lot of boxing. With the support of our partners we will be hoping that every month there will be boxing,” Abdool added. Last, but not least, he commended the Director of Holland’s Entertainment for a well composed card to start the year.
Holland, too, expressed his gratitude to the sponsors and the Guyana Boxing Board of Control for the support given to him to pull off numerous boxing cards.
He observed that boxing in Guyana was stepping up and gave the assurance that he will continue to promote boxing in Guyana once he is permitted to, while also promoting the sport in other countries.
Meanwhile Steve’s Jewellery also made a donation to the card.
The donation of an undisclosed cheque was made by Managing Director of Steve’s Jewellery Steve Narine and received by Holland.
