A 19-year-old man of 1409 Amelia’s Ward, Linden was sentenced to three months imprisonment after he admitted carrying offensive weapons.
According to the police prosecution, Travis Nurse last Saturday at Mackenzie Market had in his possession without lawful authority or reasonable excuse two offensive weapons, to wit one knife and one improvised ice pick.
The young man was arrested after police noticed him behaving in a suspicious manner while they were on patrol.
A search was conducted on his person and the weapons were found. He pleaded guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Ann McLennan sentenced him to three months imprisonment after considering the prevalence of the offence. He had also refused to tell the arresting officers what he was doing with the weapons at the time.
