Howell Henry, the 35-year-old Alness, Corentyne labourer whose body was discovered in a yard at Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice last Thursday died by ingesting a poisonous substance, results of a post-mortem examination revealed.
Henry’s remains were identified one day later by his relatives at the Fort Wellington Hospital mortuary. His wife Anita Henry, 34, said her husband was a heavy drinker and had reportedly walked out of his home on January 3.
A father of four, he had also kidnapped his youngest child, aged eight and she was later rescued by an uncle.
His family had believed he was murdered because he was a “strong, healthy man.”
