Three masked gunmen attacked and robbed a Chesney couple of their jewellery on Tuesday night.
Dhanraj Sukhdeo and his wife Marlene were sitting in hammocks at their Chesney Front, Albion, Corentyne, Berbice home when the gunmen pounced.
Police, in a press statement, said they were investigating the armed robbery which occurred at about 7.15 pm on Tuesday. The attackers were armed with handguns.
Investigations, according to police, revealed that the gunmen entered the Sukhdeos’ premises and held them up.
They then took away their personal jewellery and escaped. During the robbery, police reported, Dhanraj Sukhdeo had a scuffle with one of the men.
He was struck about the body with a firearm which caused a magazine with six live .32 rounds to fall from the weapon. The magazine and ammunition were recovered by the police.
Dhanraj Sukhdeo was treated at the New Amsterdam Hospital and released. Investigations are ongoing.
