No. 71 and Kennard’s Memorial to contest BCB/Demerara Bank final

The final will take place on February 7 at the Kennard’s Memorial Cricket Club ground.

In matches last weekend Number 71 defeated Scottsburg United at its home ground while Kennard’s Memorial barely got past Skeldon at Bush Lot Farm. At the Number 71 ground, in a match reduced to 22 overs due to excessive preparation moisture, the home team batted first and reached 246-2.

Deodat Ramdat smashed a quick-fire 82 with 15 fours and skipper Nazim Mohamed  struck 84 wwhich includes  six sixes and five fours.

In reply Scottsburg United reached 212-5 in their allotted 22 overs with skipper James Harte top scoring with 34 and Claude Beresford 32.

Bowling for Number 71 Deodat Ramdat took two wickets for 32 runs.

Over at the Bush Lot ground, Kennard’s Memorial held their nerve near the end to defeat Skeldon by one run with two balls remaining.

Batting first the home team rattled up 256 for 5 off 40 overs with Thomas George scoring 57 and Rajendra Latcha 43; the two putting on 80 runs in 18 overs for the first wicket.

They received support from Mankarran Singh (27) and Suresh Mangru who scored 85 (9×6, 3×4) on the small ground.  Wasim Hussain was the best bowler for Skeldon with 2-40.

In reply Skeldon’s attempt of the huge total of 256 ended one run short as they were dismissed  for 255 off 39.4 overs.

Raj Nauth (47) and Naresh Khan (40) were the principal scorers as A. Hussain took four wickets for 56 runs for Kennard’s Memorial.
