A Brazilian man is dead and three others hospitalised following an accident on Friday night at 58 Miles, Mabura Road.
The dead man is known as “Benni”, while the injured persons are Brazilians Milton Da Silva, Edelson De Souza Oliveira and Jiansei Perez, police said in a release yesterday. Another man Travis Rodrigues was treated and sent away, the police said.
According to the police the accident occurred around 9:30 pm at 58 Miles, Mabura Road as a group of men were reportedly in the tray of a motor lorry which was transporting a mining dredge. “It is reported that at a turn in the road at 58 Miles, Mabura, the driver lost control of the vehicle which toppled,” police said. According to the police, the five occupants in the tray sustained injuries and were taken to the Mackenzie Hospital, where ‘Benni’ was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the motor lorry is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
