The Guyana Squash Association’s (GSA) Bounty Farm Handicap tournament is set to kick off the new season tomorrow night at the Georgetown Club’s courts.
The tournament is expected to attract the cream of the country’s senior and junior players.
According to a release from the GSA “the tournament, which levels the playing field for players of all abilities by using point handicaps to assist novices and hinder accomplished players, has become very popular over the years and has helped players learn how to deal with committing as few errors as possible and to handle pressure situations.”
Like previous years, this year’s tournament will be divided into two categories Open and `A’.
Last year’s Open champion Victoria Arjoon should be hard pressed to retain her title.
In like manner defending `A’ category champion Lydia Fraser will also have her work cut out in defending her crown.
According to the release, several novices and beginners are expected to participate in the tournaments which will be contested every evening from 6pm.
The finals of the tournament will take place on Saturday.
